PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING VERIFICATION MANDATE

Terms of Engineering Verification & Use

Effective Date: September 21, 2026. Please carefully read these Terms of Engineering Verification and Conditions of Use before accessing, referencing, or employing any calculations, formulas, or span tables on StructLogic.org.

Mandatory Professional Engineer (PE / SE) Verification Notice

StructLogic calculations, tables, and algorithms are provided solely for preliminary sizing, conceptual feasibility, academic instruction, and engineering reference. No output from this platform constitutes an engineering seal, professional sign-off, or certified construction document.

Prior to physical construction, permit filing, fabrication, or material procurement, all loads, member sizes, deflections, foundation depths, and connection details must be independently analyzed, validated, and stamped by a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) qualified in the jurisdiction where the structure is to be erected.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, browsing, or utilizing any portion of StructLogic.org, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and unconditionally agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to all provisions contained herein, you are prohibited from using the computational tools and reference content.

Model Code Context & Local Amendments

The formulas, matrices, and tables on StructLogic reference published model building codes and national design specifications:

  • ACI 318-19 (American Concrete Institute)
  • AWC NDS-2024 (American Wood Council)
  • AISC 360-22 (American Institute of Steel Construction)
  • IBC 2024 / IRC 2024 (International Code Council)
  • ASCE / SEI 7-22 (American Society of Civil Engineers)

Model codes have no force of law until officially adopted by state or local legislative jurisdictions. Local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) frequently modify live load requirements, snow drift criteria, seismic design categories (SDCs), basic wind speed maps, frost penetration baselines, and allowable bearing pressures. It is the user's sole responsibility to confirm compliance with local amendments.

Engineering Assumptions & Boundary Limits

Calculations generated on this platform rely upon standard, idealized structural boundary assumptions:

  • Beam Mechanics: Flexural calculations assume prismatic, uncracked (or standard cracked transformed) sections conforming to Euler-Bernoulli fourth-order elastic curve theory, with adequate lateral torsional bracing along compression flanges unless explicitly parameterized otherwise.
  • Subsurface & Geotechnical: Earth pressure calculations assume homogeneous backfill soils, Rankine/Coulomb planar failure wedges, and dry friction conditions unless hydrostatic water table heads are modeled. Actual soil bearing capacities must be determined by an on-site geotechnical soils investigation.
  • Load Path Continuity: StructLogic analyzes discrete members and components. The user and structural engineer of record (EOR) remain strictly responsible for evaluating complete vertical and lateral load path continuity (shear walls, diaphragms, hold-downs, collectors, and anchorages).

Limitation of Liability

In no event shall the StructLogic Engineering Consortium, its maintainers, authors, contributors, or affiliated initiatives be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages—including but not limited to structural failure, property damage, personal injury, construction delays, re-inspection costs, loss of profits, or business interruption—arising out of or in connection with the use, reliance on, or inability to use any calculation, table, or specification provided on StructLogic.org.

Open Access & Intellectual Property

The laws of continuum mechanics, mathematical theorems, and public building codes are part of human knowledge and the public domain. StructLogic provides this interface under open-access principles to elevate public safety and engineering transparency. All layout designs, vector graphics, and distinctive site features are maintained by the StructLogic Consortium.

Modifications to Terms

StructLogic reserves the right to revise or modify these Terms at any time without prior notice as code editions (such as future editions of ACI 318, AWC NDS, or IBC) are updated. Continued access to the platform following any revisions constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
